All ‘good’ at homes network
AHOUSING organisation that offers homes to adults with learning and physcial disabilities has been rated ‘good’ by a health sector watchdog.
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has given Halton Supported Housing Network the rating in all five areas assessed.
The areas were safety, effectiveness, responsiveness, how caring it is and its leadership.
A CQC report said the network had 19 houses and provided staff to support people in their own homes, with 52 people using the service at the time of the inspection over the end of October and start of November.
It said: “The network provides accommodation with support in the community for adults with learning disabilities and physical disabilities.
“The network supports individuals to uphold their tenancy agreement, participate in the community and to lead their lives in a purposeful, healthy and enjoyable way.
“People who used the service and their relatives were high in their praise of the staff and services provided.
“They told us that staff were kind and caring and had enhanced people’s lives.
“We saw that staff had developed effective communication methods with people to meet their individual needs.”
The service is run by Halton Borough Council.
At the time of the inspection, the network had experienced changes to its staffing structure; workers told the CQC inspectors that it had greatly improved service delivery and staff morale and that the manager led by example.
The document said that service users told the CQC they were safe and comfortable and that staff made them feel safe. ●
