Vets’ cash helps Julie take lead in dog care
AWIDNES woman has donated more than £150 worth of harnesses and collars to a centre in Spain that helps rescue dogs.
Julie Clark, who runs Walkies Dog Walking & Training Services, has recommended a number of people to White Cross Vets in Upton Rocks and after receiving £10 for each referral, used the money to purchase the supplies.
They have been sent to a centre in Almogia, Andalusia, called In The Dog House, which is run by Donna Saunders.
Donna, who also has a dog training centre, grooming parlour and pet lodge, helps to find homes for dogs that are abandoned, sick and often living on the streets.
In many cases, they have been thrown out of moving cars, put in a bin, or a bag in the river to drown.
Julie said: “Dog cruelty and abandonment is a real issue in Spain, and Donna and her staff take dogs in who have very little chance of surviving under their wing, rehabilitating them and finding them homes.
“I have been supporting Donna and the rescue dogs for several years and when White Cross Vets opened in Widnes I noticed they had a refer a friend policy.
“Having taken my own pets, Marvin and Hazard, to the practice and being incredibly impressed with their level of care and service I decided to recommend a friend, and then another and another!”
Vet Archie Cummings from White Cross Vets, which opened in Upton Rocks a few months ago, said: “It’s so generous that Julie is using the money she has received to help pets in need in Spain and we are delighted to be supporting her with her charitable giving.”
