Changing image of cancer
● PHOTOGRAPHERS from Halton are being invited to enter a competition launched to help challenge people’s perceptions of cancer.
It aims to create a more positive and inspirational image of those affected by the illness.
Categories include people affected by cancer including carers, relatives and friends, and those who work in the field.
It is the first photography competition to be staged by the Living With And Beyond Cancer (LWBC) Progamme team in Merseyside and Cheshire – a two-year collaboration between Macmillan Cancer Support, NHS organisations and The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre.
Hannah Randles, Macmillan programme co-ordinator based at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, set up the competition – Changing The Perception Of Cancer.
She said: “I’m sure we all know someone who has been affected by cancer, and who have inspired us in so many different ways.
“We are looking for photographs that celebrate this in picture form, such as a photo taken on a walk, an image of a nurse or maybe someone at the gym or on their wedding day.”
A panel will choose the final five for to be shown at the (LWBC) second anniversary event at Liverpool Town Hall in April.
The maximum number of entries is five per person and the closing date for submissions is Tuesday, February 28.
