Wow! Tribute to Kate Bush is unbelievable

-

AWARD-WINNING Kate Bush tribute The Red Shoes: Our Kate Bush Story is heading once again to Runcorn this March.

The band performed in town last year and the group is now relishing a return to The Brindley.

Since that show, singer Lorrie Brown who portrays Kate has won a national award for her tribute and is now the UK’s number one Kate Bush tribute.

Lorrie won her award from the Agents Association of GB last June in a lavish ceremony in Leicester at The Athena, also finishing runner-up in the best choreography category.

The award was not her first, having won the same title in 2013 for her rendi- tion of Vera Lynn, prompting an invitation from the now centenarian singer.

Lorrie said meeting Kate Bush would now be the ‘icing on the cake’.

She is joined on stage in The Red Shoes by highly experienced musicians and avid fans of Kate; Clive Johnson, drums and percussion, Geoff Kroll, bass. Fred ‘Fito’ Richardson, guitars and Paul Welsh, keys.

Lorrie, who has mastered the challenge of Kate Bush’s ever-shifting vocals, said: “I am over the moon to have won this award, it’s a great honour because it’s from the agents association of GB who book all the acts, so it shows me that what we are doing is working.

“I know the guys in the band will be as excited as well. I am so excited to be portraying one of my heroes from the ’70s music scene. I absolutely love her, she is so theatrical in her performances.

“I believe she was way ahead of her time. If you look at her performance in her concert back in 1979 at the Hammersmith Odeon, she was way ahead of anyone else performing at the time.

“Her ideas would still work in a concert today.

“We have tried to develop a show which we hope would please Kate if she were to see our show.

“I recreate many of her dance routines and costumes, any moves I put in myself, I try to produce in a similar style.”

Lorrie said: “The guys are totally into her music and play it with passion and even let me dress them up on the stage in costumes.

“We have been getting some very good feedback from the audiences who have seen the shows so far.

“We’ve got lots of new ideas we want to put into the show, so its evolving all the time.” ● The Red Shoes: Our Kate Bush Story is touring and will be The Brindley Theatre on Saturday, March 18. The show starts at 7.30pm and tickets are £12.50 plus a booking fee, available from the box office on 0151 907 8360 or via the web site at thebrindley@halton.gov.uk ● For more info on the band visit www. redshoestribute.com
