Business awards launch

-

THE search for the best companies in Runcorn and Widnes is drawing to a close again as the deadline looms for entries for this year’s Halton Business Awards.

Firms have until Friday, March 31 to file their applications with Halton Chamber Of Business And Commerce.

An event spokeswoman said the gala dinner and presentation will offer the glitz and glamour of the Oscars ceremony without the ‘excitement of an fiasco’.

Halton Chamber urged companies to take part as winning and being shortlisted can be good for business and staff, and said benefits include a chance to work out the company’s strengths and position relative to competitors, bolster employee confidence, raise the firm’s profile and boost sales.

The spokeswoman said entering can also raise morale, aid recruitment and lead to media and trade press coverage, networking and other publicity opportunities.

She said: “Proactive businesses benchmark themselves against other successful companies.

“Applying for awards is a chance for you to do this. You get to see which areas of your business are effective and those which could be developed.

“The judging process provides an opportunity to assess your position in relation to that of your peers and competitors.

“You may or may not be shortlisted or nominated as a finalist, but at the very least you will have gathered information which could be used again, cutting the time required to enter other awards.

“If you’re actually selected, that’s when the payback really kicks in. My advice – milk it.”

She added: “It’s an irritating cliché, but one that’s true – you have to be in it, to win it.

“And really, for an investment in some time working on your business, it’s a winner all round.”
