Bright start helps Mill Brow on their way to triumph over Corpy Club

ON Friday night in the Widnes & District Darts League, the Mill Brow SC RTB League continued.

In Division One, Mill Brow SC at home to the Corpy Club stormed ahead as they took the first five games to secure the match.

Chris Bright (17 darts), Alan Friar (14 darts), Dave Powell, Dean Birks & Brian Spruce and Dave Powell & Paul Linger (17 darts) were all victorious on the oche.

The Corpy recovered the next two games through Mark Connor & Alan Moran and Jeff Thompson, only to see the Mill Brow SC take the final two games wrapping up a 7-2 success as Paul Woodward (13 darts) and Carl Hackney (16 darts) were both successful.

The Millfield at home to Widnes Bowling Club started badly has they conceded the first four games to the visitors’ Joe Batty (17 darts), Scott Grady, Tex Bowles and Scott Grady & Joe Batty.

The Millfield recovered a point via Chris Taylor & Billy Fox (18 darts) only to see the Bowling Club’s Tex Bowles & Tommy Robertson take it back sealing their team’s victory.

The Millfield then took the next two games via Mike Howard (15 darts) and Chris Taylor (15 darts).

Scott Byrne then claimed the final game completing a 6-3 triumph for Widnes Bowling Club.

Simms Cross Institute at home to the Wellington conceded the first three games to the visitors’ Barry Highfield, James Holden and Anthony Hall.

The hosts recovered a point through their opening pair, Mick Cullen & Dave Evans, only to see the Wellington’s Barry Highfield & Anthony Hall add a further win to their tally. The Stute responded with two in a row from Glynn Owen & Ged McPartland and Andy Abbott to narrow the gap. However the Wellington were on good form as they took the next two games through, Karl Whitfield (15 darts) and Ste Whitfield (18 darts) to finish off a 6-3 victory.

In Division Two, the Cricketers Arms at home to Widnes Cricket Club took the first game through John Mullhollan­d.

K Baxter then levelled for Widnes Cricket Club.

The Cricketers Arms then took the lead once more with two wins from Graham Fenney (14 darts) and opening pair, Graham Fenney & Brian Dwyer.

The Cricket Club rallied, talking the next four games through B Hewitt & K Baxter, Ste Heesom & Ernie Griffiths, Ste Heesom and D Morris to take the match with one game still to play.

Gary Bate claimed the final contest for the Cricketers Arms as the clash finished 5-4 in Widnes Cricket Club’s favour.
