Slavin’s try for Hornets settles classic clash with Wigan St Patrick’s

HFH U12 16 Wigan St Patrick’s U12 12 HORNETS knew they were in for a game against a big Wigan St Patrick’s side in tough conditions.

But they got off to a fine start with George Charnock collecting a kick though to touch down for the Hornets’ first try.

Wigan St Patrick’s claimed their first score out wide before Charnock crossed for his second four-pointer to secure a 12-4 lead at halfway.

Wigan St Patrick’s pulled it back to 12-12 after the break capitalisi­ng on two Hornets mistakes.

It was then end-to-end in the mud before Hornets got a good move out wide for Conall Slavin to seal the game with a match-winning try.

Tom Fallon was named man-of-the-match with the coaches’ award going to Jack Craig.

Rylands U7 20 THE U7 Greens hit the ground running against Rylands Sharks with a display of tackling worthy of note.

Top tackler award for the second week running went to Jackson Riley closely followed by Luke Holland with 40 plus tackles between them and a brace of tries each.

Man-of-the-match honours went to Coby Scott who touched down five times, two of them outstandin­g solo efforts. Daniel Woods took the coaches’ award for his two tries with further scores coming from Malachy Arrowsmith, Jacob Durr and Billy Rowlands.
