Exciting clashes in 501 Pairs

ON Monday evening in the Widnes & District Darts League, the Mill Brow SC 501 Pairs were played at the Mill Brow SC.

In the pre-lims, Billy Fox & Adam Mellor, Ste Whitfield & J Lewis, Andy Abbott & Glynn Owen, Neil Platt & Karl Birks (19 darts) Rob Cotty & Paul Cotty and Sean Bell (180 & 16 darts) & Phil Corless all won by two games to one.

Meantime, Kevin Garcia & Eddie Dootson, Joe Batty & Scott Grady, John Kilkenny & Colin Rigby (17 darts), Anton Conroy & Karl Windisch, Paul Linger & Dave Powell, Joe Price & Alan Clark and Chris Taylor & Ray Dutton all advanced in two straight legs.

In the first round, no less than seven of the eight pairs won in two straight legs. They were Tex Bowles & Tommy Robertson, Kevin Garcia & Eddie Dootson, Paul Linger & Dave Powell, Sean Bell & Phil Corless, John Kilkenny & Colin Rigby, Joe Price & Alan Clark and Dean Birks & Kevin Helps.

One pair won by two games to one, and that was Rob Cotty & Paul Cotty.

In the quarter-finals, Paul Linger & Dave Powell won in two straight legs, whilst Rob Cotty & Paul Cotty, Sean Bell & Phil Corless and Dean Birks & Kevin Helps were all victorious by two games to one.

In the semi-finals, Rob & Paul Cotty won in two straight legs, including a 16 dart display in the second leg.

Dean Birks & Kevin Helps also went through in two straight legs to make it an all-Division Two contest in the final of the Mill Brow 501 Pairs.
