Senior role for Cheshire officer
ASENIOR police officer in Cheshire has landed a new role in the West Midlands.
Temporary Assistant Chief Constable (ACC) Sarah Boycott has worked for Cheshire police for 24 years.
She will be leaving the force to join West Midlands as their new ACC in the coming weeks.
She began her career on the beat in Crewe in 1992 before moving into police training four years later.
Twelve months after she was promoted to Sergeant before winning a place on the national Accelerated Promotion Scheme.
Most of her career has been spent in a variety of frontline operational roles along with more specialist experience in professional standards, undertaking special project work and work nationally on the promotion exams for Sergeants and inspectors.
From 2009 ACC Boycott worked in Northern BCU, first as a Superintendent and latterly as BCU Commander.
She was integral to the development of the new neighbourhood policing model before her secondment in 2015 to HMIC where she worked on a series of projects.
These included the development of national guiding principles for leadership in policing, the inspection methodology for the Police efficiency and Police leadership strands of HMIC’s PEEL inspections and an internal change programme.
In March 2016 she returned to Cheshire and took on the role of Temporary ACC for Local Policing.
She said: “Cheshire Constabulary is such a great force to be a part of and I would like to thank everyone who I have worked with over the years for their wonderful support.
“I have many fond memories of my 24 years at the Constabulary and it will be very difficult to leave behind such a wonderful team. ●
“The people I’ve worked with have always been the most important part of the job and I’ve been fortunate to work with many great people. It has also been a privilege to serve and support the public and communities across Cheshire.
“Whilst it has been a difficult decision, I am now looking forward to my next role as Assistant Chief Constable of West Midlands Police which will bring fresh challenges in a complex environment.
“I would like to thank everyone for their kind messages of support and wish everyone at Cheshire Constabulary all the very best for the future.”
Cheshire’s Chief Constable Simon Byrne added: “Over the last 12 months Sarah has excelled as Temporary Assistant Chief Constable overseeing many testing operations such as Operation Fascinate, the fracking protest.
“I have no doubt that this exciting promotion will be another challenging episode for Sarah as she begins a new chapter in an already successful career in policing.
“I would like to thank Sarah for her commitment to the force and the outstanding service she has given during her many years here. It has been a pleasure working alongside her. I would like to congratulate Sarah on her appointment and wish her all the very best for the future on behalf of all of us.”
