High tech launch for Daresbury’s new facility

-

SCI-TECH Daresbury’s latest state-of-the-art facility has been launched at a breakfast event to show off its capabilities.

Guests from science and tech companies across the region mingled with commercial office agents and campus tenants at Techspace One, which is a threestorey, multi-let building comprising 46,000 sq ft of highquality wet and instrumentation laboratories, grade A office accommodation, meeting hubs and break-out areas.

After breakfast, those attending were treated to virtual reality, 3D printing, infra-red camera and mad science demonstrations and given the opportunity to take a spin in electric vehicle company Tesla’s Model X and S cars with a professional driver before being entered into a draw to win the chance to drive an electric supercar.

Techspace One has been developed for companies from sectors such as biomedical, materials, process technology and clean technology.

Tenants have access to fume extraction, provision of liquid waste disposal facility and materials and gas bottle storage areas, on-site nitrogen supply, compressed air and natural gas and ground floor labs with external door access.

The building also has high-speed internet connectivity and provides accommodation of between 900 and 2,400 sq ft units.

Techspace One completes the latest development at Sci-Tech Daresbury following its sister building Techspace Two, which opened in Autumn 2016.

The enterprise zone status of both buildings means companies that locate into them before the March 31, 2018, will be eligible for five years’ business rates relief.

Malcolm Jackson, Langtree group finance director and Sci-Tech Daresbury joint venture company board director, said: “Opening a new building is always an interesting and exciting time, especially here at Sci-Tech Daresbury where so much cutting edge development and research is carried out.

“The new building is attracting significant interest, following a year when a record number of 34 companies located or relocated here, drawn not only by world leading facilities and an international reputation, but also ● to a renowned spirit of collaboration and the success of many of our 114 companies in commercialising their innovation.”

Sci-Tech Daresbury is a privatepublic joint-venture partnership between developer Langtree, the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) and Halton Borough Council.
