Seven up for Stute in victory

ON Monday night in the Widnes & District Darts League, the Widnes Bowling Club 501 League continued with round 23 being played.

The Stadium at home to the Millfield took the first game through John Bowles (16 darts). Adam Mellor then levelled for the Millfield. John Kilkenny took the Stadium ahead, but again the Millfield levelled, this time via Ian Wall & Adam Mellor. The Stadium rallied, taking the remaining five games and the match through Alan Clark & John Bowles, Kev Garcia & Eddie Dootson, Kev Garcia (17 darts), Joe Price and Eddie Dootson.

The Mersey Hotel at home to Widnes Bowling Club took the first game through Rob Cotty.

The Bowler came back to level via Tex Bowles before going ahead with three in a row from Scott Grady, Joe Batty & Scott Grady and Alex McGill & Dave Pickles.

The Mersey recovered a point via Danny Shipley & Ged Conroy only to see Widnes Bowling Club take the final three games and the match through Joe Batty, Mark Smith and Dave Pickles who registered a 110 checkout.

The Mill Brow SC at home to the Wellington started well, taking three in a row as Tommy Owens, Jack Dunn and Chris Bright (180) were all successful. The Wellington narrowed the gap with two victories from James Holden & John Lewis and John Glover & Anthony Hall.

The Brow recovered a point through Neil Platt (118 finish) & Jack Dunn.

However, that was as good as it got for them as the Wellington secured the final three games and the match as Ste Whitfield, Karl Whitfield (18 darts) and Anthony Hall all won the encounters.

Widnes RUFC at home to Simms Cross Institute started badly, losing the first five games to the Stute’s Tony Green, Brian Abbott, Paul Batty, John Leacy & Mick Cullen and Glynn Owen & Dave Evans thus ensuring their defeat in the match.

The Wids did recover two points through Andy Griffiths & Ian Nicholson and Paul Woods.

However, Simms Cross Institute took the final two games sealing a 7-2 success as Glynn Owen and Andy Abbott both won their contests.
