Bears still the team to beat as they continue flawless start to season

-

WEST Bank Bears U10s have made a perfect start to the season which has seen them take six victories from their opening six games.

The young Bears have had to adapt to very different playing conditions in the first part of the season which has included monsoon-like conditions against Ashton, a surface similar to a farmer’s field against Folly Lane and then beaming sunshine in the local derby against Halton Farnworth Hornets.

Playing some scintillating rugby league at times and also prepared to roll up their sleeves and do the tough stuff, the Bears’ U10s are really starting to show exactly what this young group have been promising since they got together three years ago.

Scoring more than 150 points in the opening fixtures and only conceding 60 shows just how dominant they have been and they have used a mixture of strong forward work and also exciting backs’ play to take all six victories against some very good opponents.

The latest opponent to feel the force of the Bears’ U10s was Oldham side St Anne’s who were ‘bear hugged’ into submission with the West Bank youngsters scoring 28 points without reply.

The Bears showed fantastic skills to score the tries but on the back of a very powerful display from the big pack.

Next up for West Bank Bears U10s is a trip to Woolston and then a Wigan double against St Patrick’s and St Jude’s – three fixtures that are expected to be tough, but games that the young Bears are looking forward to with enthusiasm. ●
