No social justice in taxi toll rules

- Major Tom Stephanie Stone Revitalise

THE shadow of the death star, the bridge to poverty, spread further across the town as the council – despite talks with rebel taxi drivers – made its true intentions known with the recent release of its bridge toll charges, confirming it will charge taxi users two pounds to cross the bridge.

This came with the message during talks, that taxis are not part of the public transport system.

Rebels pointed out the fact, London taxis travel free of the congestion charges because they are part of the public transport system.

Sadly protests of a NorthSouth divide fell on deaf ears, with rebels believing they would have had more success negotiating with Lord Vader himself.

All attempts by the rebel taxi drivers to find councillor Luke Skywalker, and his Jedi councillors, that all gained local election victory aboard the star ship SS social justice, have failed.

The rebels with nowhere else to turn are now setting course for the planet Ukip, where the only weak radio signal against tolls within the town has been reported.

The rebels only hope to defeat the looming death star of tolls, now lies with the galactic planet union.

The alliance is struggling to accept it is politically correct that on behalf of rebel taxi drivers, Unite union which spent thousands supporting the Labour Party to fight for social justice in the last election, may now be fighting the Halton Labour council in court.

The union will be trying to prevent the old the disabled, poor, deprived, and a few drunken taxi users from being discriminated against whilst crossing the bridge within the town.

Should you be discriminated against when visiting your sick granny in hospital because you can’t afford a car?

Very few of the town’s Labour supporters support the idea of taxi passengers being forced to make a separate journey to refund toll fees.

A trip to the local Link costing a five pound bus fare, to collect a two pound toll fee seems beyond belief, how are the disabled supposed to get there? Does it even make financial sense, considering the administration fees that will be involved?

Are we really to believe we are to be controlled by dark forces within the council buildings?

A force bent on the destruction of social justice within the town?

That dark shadow we see at the window of the municipal building is not a normal employee, but really Lord Vader and the dark emperor himself about to take up residency.

It seems rumour may be true, as the elected council seem to claim they can do nothing, as it is now beyond their control.

Perhaps if rebels could find Councillor Luke Skywalker, he could answer the question: who makes the important decisions, those who work for the council, or the elected councillors?

This is Major Tom to star ship SS social justice: are you out there, we are receiving no transmission.

This is Major Tom to ground control – is there anyone there? and beyond. We touch the lives of thousands of disabled people and carers each year through our respite breaks. Now, we’re able to provide even further support via the ‘Simplyhealth Care Community’ - an online carers’ forum developed by our long-term partner Simplyhealth and powered by the social network HealthUnlocked.

With more than half of carers we asked admitting they did not know how they would be able to cope if things continued the way they were, we know it’s likely that there are thousands more carers out there who feel the same and are in need of our support – you can help us to provide it.
