Attempted murder: teen held
A TEENAGER from Rainhill has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
A Merseyside police spokesman said at about 5.25pm on Sunday, April 23, emergency services were called to Liverpool Road, close to the Shere Khan takeaway, in St Helens to a report that a man had been stabbed.
Two further men were found nearby with injuries and the alleged incident is believed by officers to have happened at the rear of the Phoenix pub, Canal Street. The trio were taken to hospital and on Monday, April 24, two were described by police as being in a `critical condition’, while the third man’s was said to be `stable’.
A 17-year-old boy from Rainhill and an 18-yearold man from Liverpool have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
A full investigation has now been launched, house to house enquiries are being carried out and CCTV opportunities are being explored.
Detective Inspector Cath Haggerty said: “We would like to speak to anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area of Liverpool Street, Bridge Street or Canal Street at the time of the incident.
“Any information no matter how small could be crucial to our investigation.”
