Hornets’ class tells in cup-tie

HFH U12 16 HORNETS went to Blackbrook in the next game of the cup and were expecting a tough encounter.

A very small pitch played to the home team’s advantage who just wanted a forward battle.

However, the Hornets stuck to their game-plan from the start.

Coaches’ award winner, Conall Slavin, scored the first try to put Hornets ahead at half-time.

In the second half, Hornets showed their class with George Charnock going over with Peter Scott converting.

Blackbrook grabbed a try back to make it 10-4 but Elliott Droogan crossed with Scott tacking on the conversion for a 16-4 triumph.

HFH U7 Green 2 Blackbrook U7 12 BOTH sides were keen to protect unbeaten records and from the off it was Blackbrook who took the upper hand with four quick tries before the Greens got themselves on the scoresheet with Jackson Riley crossing the whitewash.

A well-drilled Blackbrook side continued to dominate with three more tries before half-time.

The second half saw Blackbrook run in a further five tries as the Greens found it hard to perform to their usual standard.

A final try from Neil Dooley brought this bruising encounter to a close.

The top tackler honour went to Luke Holland once again with Oliver Reddington collecting the coaches’ award.

The newly-establishe­d parents’ award went to Isaac O’Brian.

Hindley U11 6 HFH U11 Reds 28 HORNETS travelled to Hindley and came away with a great win.

Tries came from Harry Robertson who crossed twice, Mason Leather, Ethan Delaney and Joel Sumner with the conversion­s added by Harry Robertson, Lewis George, Reily O’Brien and Joel Sumner.

The opposition coach named Harry Robertson and Reily O’Brien as joint-winners of the man-of-the-match honour.
