“I also successful­ly campaigned for the Runcorn Treatment Centre at Halton Hospital, the Widnes walk-in centre and have helped secure millions of pounds of investment in our school buildings.

“I have helped thousands of Halton residents over the years with many individual issues that they requested my support on.

“It is a real honour for me to have served as MP for Halton.

“Many MPs are not from the areas that they represent these days and I want to continue serving you and the constituen­cy I live in.

“As I’m sure you know, during the last seven years, first the Tory-Lib Dem Coalition, then the Tory Government, have deliberate­ly targeted places like Halton – slashing funding for our public services, they have pushed our NHS and adult social care into crisis and many of our children’s schools are facing funding cuts because of Tory policy.

“Our young people struggle to find jobs, with low paid insecure jobs being the only option available for many.

“I was part of a Labour Government that properly funded our NHS and schools, introduced the free bus pass and Winter Fuel Allowance for pensioners.

“I will stand up for pensioners and support the triple lock on pensions, I will stand up for families, I will support our local businesses to secure more jobs and investment in skills and apprentice­ships

“I will stand up for Halton.”
