Family fun at store re-opening
ASHOP in Widnes will re-open its doors with a weekend of family fun in aid of local good causes following a £615,000 makeover.
The new-look Co-op store on Liverpool Road in Ditton is creating three new jobs and increase its opening hours to 6am to 11pm.
Cartoon characters Olaf and a Minion will be involved in the launch of the store and a family fun weekend – including a bouncy castle – will raise funds and awareness for the Cathie Stankevitch Foundation.
A pop-up shop has continued to serve residents while the makeover has been completed.
The new-look store will include new flooring, fixtures and refrigeration along with an enhanced in-store bakery, Costa coffee, and a focus on fresh, healthy foods, meal ideas and essentials.
Ditton Co-op store manager Michael Sedgwick said: “We are looking forward to welcoming the community into the new-look Ditton store – we are thrilled to have made such a significant investment in the area, it is an exciting time for the whole team.
“The Co-op is moving forward with a clear purpose and ● momentum and our ambition is to establish the store as a local hub, a real asset for the community.
“We want shoppers to know that they can become a coowner and member of their Co-op.
“We are also giving back to the community.
“Our members can make a difference locally simply by swiping their membership card when they shop with us, raising much needed funding for organisations in the area who contribute to improving local life.”
The stores membership scheme will also benefit good causes in the area including Cheshire Search And Rescue Team; Garston Urban Village Hall and NCT Widnes And Runcorn.
The fun day activity will run between 10am to 6pm on Friday, May 26, and from 12pm until 6pm on Saturday, May 27, and Sunday, May 28.
