Widnes’s dedicated website work recognised with a special honour

-

FOLLOWING the end of the 2016 playing season, there was more good news for Widnes RUFC off the field, as Web Hosts Pitchero awarded the club a Bronze Ranking for their success with the club’s website.

The award, although mainly symbolic in nature, means that throughout the season, the club’s website remained continuously amongst the leading group of clubs on the Pitchero network, a network which now includes almost 7,000 clubs across 86 countries around the world.

Since its inception, the club have consistently ridden high in the ratings – and it was not that long ago that Widnes just missed out on reaching the coveted ‘number one’ spot.

Either way, it represents a huge achievement for a small, North West community-based rugby union club located in a hotbed of local amateur sport.

To celebrate the achievement and showcase their success to other organisations, the club were awarded two official ranking stickers to be positioned in the entrance to the clubhouse in order to help champion the club to every visitor.

The award also included some motivational posters for the changing rooms to give players that extra boost before a match along with some information cards for team officials and posters of the club and manager apps to keep members and managers up to date 24/7.

A thrilled Widnes club president, Paul Newall, said: “We are delighted to have been recognised by Pitchero.

“We are particularly grateful for the work of Primary Webmaster Geoff Council and his ever-willing band of volunteer webmasters who help to populate the site and keep it up-to-date with a regular supply of news to keep everyone informed” ●
