Man in hospital after suffering stab wounds

A4 0 - Y E AR- O L D man is recovering in hospital after potential serious assault in Runcorn in which the casualty suffered a possible stab wound to his thigh plus other injuries.
Police descended on Avalon Court in Castlefields after reports of an incident shortly after 11am on Sunday, June 4.
A Cheshire Constabulary spokesman said a 40-year-old resident had suffered a puncture wound to his thigh and cuts to his head, lips, arms and hands.
He said the cause of the serious injuries is still being investigated.
The casualty was taken to Aintree Hospital but have refused to release details of his injuries.
No-one has been arrested and the spokesman said the incident is being treated as a ‘possible assault’.
There was a heavy police presence around Avalon Court on Sunday.
Crime scene tape cordoned off the terrace and there were three patrol cars plus a forensics van although resident reports suggest there were at least seven vehicles present earlier.
At least one ambulance under police escort was also seen on Main Street turning off for Holt Lane.
Passersby at the scene did not know what had taken place while speculation was rife on social media about what had happened.
Enquiries are said to be still ongoing and anyone with information should call Cheshire police on 101 quoting incident number 345 of June 4.

A planned bike marking event due to take place in Runcorn Old Town near Bridge Retail Park was cancelled because of the investigation.
