All change for Halton NHS group

ACHANGING of the guard has taken place at NHS Halton Clinical Commission­ing Group (CCG) with several retirement­s.

Dr Cliff Richards and Jan Snoddon have retired as the CCG’s clinical chair and chief nurse to be succeeded by Dr David Lyon and Michelle Creed respective­ly.

Paul Brickwood has also retired as chief finance officer and has been succeeded by David Cooper.

In addition chief officer Simon Banks has taken up a new position and Dave Sweeney has been appointed as the interim chief officer

Dr Mick O’Connor has also departed from the Governing Body and clinical lead roles at NHS Halton CCG to return to be a full-time GP.

Dr Lyon said: “Our predecesso­rs have left a legacy of commission­ing services that deliver quality and the best possible health outcomes for local people that we are determined to preserve and build upon.

“I am confident that the change in leadership will not only bring a new energy and drive to the challenges we are going to face over the upcoming 12 months, but will bring alternativ­e ways of looking at and tackling these challenges.”

Ms Creed has worked as a nurse for approximat­ely 40 years and has done a variety of roles from being a practice nurse to working within NHS England and brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the role.

Mr Cooper is the chief finance officer at NHS Warrington CCG and will be working jointly across both organisati­ons. He has served in the NHS for 25 years. Dr Lyon has been a GP in Runcorn for more than 30 years and is currently a partner at Castlefiel­ds Health Centre.

He has served on the CCG Governing Body since it formed in 2013.

Dr Lyon added: “Involving everybody in improving the health and wellbeing of the people of Halton.

“The population we serve deserve the best and we will only achieve that by working with the public, volunteers and partners in the NHS and as partners in social care in an open and honest manner.”

Mr Sweeney is a multi-award winning commission­er with more than 20 years’ experience in health and social care.

He has a passion for mental wellbeing and prides himself on innovation, utilising the power people and strong evidence.

He has previously served on the Governing Body as the deputy chief officer.

Leigh Thompson has also become the CCG’s director of commission­ing after being with the organisati­on for more than two years and boasts 25 years of NHS experience. ● ●
