Homes win awards

TWO affordable homes schemes built by Halton Housing Trust were recognised as ‘highly commended’ at an industry awards event.

A project on Latham Avenue was a finalist in the ‘best new affordable housing scheme at the Housing Excellence Awards 2017, which is one of the largest bashes of its type in the UK and attended by more than 600 guests.

The scheme, on the former Grange junior school site, comprises 83 homes plus 12 properties for private sale by Seddon and is due for completion in August with applicatio­ns to open six weeks before via Property Pool Plus.

Over in Widnes, the trust’s Brentfield scheme was highly commended in the ‘best North West affordable developmen­t category’ at the LABC Building Excellence awards at Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester.

Brentfield consists of 36 one-bed apartments and two-bedroom houses and constructi­on was completed by Cruden in May.

Both schemes were built in Halton and were recognised for their interior and exterior design and planning, affordabil­ity, safety and accessibil­ity, the trust said.

Halton Housing Trust owns and manages 6,800 homes. The trust is a not-for-profit. Nicky Harris, Halton Housing Trust developmen­t manager, said: “We are delighted to gain these top awards for fantastic new schemes.

“The schemes both provide much needed affordable housing in Halton, which are designed to meet the needs and demands of our customer base.

“The awards reflect the hard work of everyone here at Halton Housing and our partners to deliver a high-quality finish to provide great homes for our customers to live in.” ● ●
