Town pair Jarrett and McManus sign new deals to stay at Pavilions

-

RUNCORN TOWN’S busy preparations for the 2017-18 campaign have continued with Danny Jarrett and Paul McManus the latest of last season’s squad to agree terms.

Defender Jarrett signed for the club at the start of the season just finished.

He missed the opening day FA Cup loss at Pontefract but made his debut the following Saturday in the club’s first league game at Hanley Town.

He went on to play 33 times last season.

Midfielder McManus signed in September from EvoStik League Northern Premier Division side Droylsden, making his debut in a thrilling win at Maine Road. He played 38 times last season.

Town manager, Chris Herbert, said “Paul McManus is a very clever footballer, on his day he is unplayable.

“When we signed him from Droylsden, Macca was in need of fitness so it was a while before we saw the best of him. But the way he ended the season in them last four or five games was as good as I have seen him.

“Once he has a full preseason under his belt, I expect him to have his best season in a long time.

“I’m looking forward to getting him fit and ready for that first game and if he does get himself to the fitness levels required – as good as he was last season – everyone at the club will see a totally different Paul McManus.

“DJ is a huge part of everything we do at the the club, his experience, his enthusiasm and his popularity around the place makes him a key part of the squad and he has a vital part to play this season. His enthusiasm is infectious. We have all seen that he is a player that gives us 110% every game he plays, and we need more players this season to have the same attitude if we are to improve on last season.” ● Paul McManus on the ball last season for Town.
