Joe’s experience and class tells as he claims town’s Individuals crown

-

ON Friday evening in the Widnes & District Darts League, the RTB Finals and Presentation Night took place at Widnes Cricket Club.

In the Jack Adams Cup Final, Trevor Chadwick was to take on Alan Moran, but as he failed to put in an appearance Alan Moran took the final and the Jack Adams Cup by default.

In the Alf Houghton Memorial Shield, Matty Fisher from the Birchfield and Rob Morris from the Widnes Cricket Club, came head to head and served up the best of the finals on the night.

Rob Morris took the early lead with a competent first-leg of darts, but Matty Fisher ● struck back with a 17-dart display to level the contest.

With all resting on the final leg of darts, Rob responded with a fantastic 16-darter to secure the Alf Houghton Memorial Shield.

In the Alan Knowles Memorial Shield Final – sponsored by the Corpy Club – saw Karl Whitfield from the Wellington up against the Halton Stadium’s Alan Magee.

And it was Alan who claimed the opening leg of darts. Karl had to strike back quickly, but Alan, solid as ever, was not going to let it happen as he quickly took the second leg of darts to lift the Alan Knowles Memorial Shield.

In the Jason Bright President Pairs Final – sponsored by Chris & Linda Bright – it was supposed to see Chris Taylor & Alan Sutton from the Millfield up against the Halton Stadium’s Alan Magee & Joe Kelly.

But with a no-show from Chris Taylor, it left Alan Magee & Joe Kelly this year’s winners of the Jason Bright President Pairs

In the Karalius Bros Individuals Final – sponsored by the Karalius Bros – Mike Howard from the Millfield and Joe Batty from Widnes Bowling Club battled it out for the top prize.

But with Mike Howard failing to rediscover the magnificent form that got him through to the final, and the experience and class that Joe Batty consistently shows on the oche, it was Joe who took the Karalius Bros Individual title.

A first-leg was rapidly won by Joe, and with a 15-dart display in the second he became this year’s Individuals champion.
