Exciting showdowns in the spotlight on a Finals Night to remember
ON Monday evening in the Widnes & District Darts League, the 501 Finals and Presentation Night took place at Widnes Bowling Club.
In the William Saxon Cup Final, Tommy Robertson took on Joe Price.
In the first-leg, Tommy won in 20 darts by taking consistently high scores, but Joe Price struck back in the second-leg, with equally high scoring with a 125 in the process. However, it was to be Tommy’s night as he took the deciding leg to win the William Saxon Cup.
In the Derek Lightfoot 180s Cup Final – sponsored by the Wellington Team – Joe Batty locked horns with Dave Powell and claimed the first-leg of darts with a 94 checkout.
Dave, however, quickly levelled by taking the next forcing a deciding third leg.
And it was Dave with a 180 who went on to win the Derek Lightfoot 180s Cup.
In the Mill Brow SC 501 Pairs Final – sponsored by the Mill Brow SC – Rob Cotty & Paul Cotty faced Dean Birks & Kevin Helps. Rob & Paul took the first-leg, which was quickly levelled by Dean & Kevin in the second, Dean hitting a 106 checkout.
The third game was a nervous contest as both pairs struggled to get over the winning line but victory eventually came for Rob & Paul as they took the Mill Brow SC 501 Pairs trophy.
In the Halton Stadium 501 Individuals Final – sponsored by Halton Stadium – Kevin Garcia took on Terry Roach.
Kevin secured the first-leg with high scoring, whilst Terry Roach seemed to be struggling to find his form.
However, he did just about find it, pipping Kevin to take the second-leg and level things up at 1-1.
With all resting on the third leg, four consecutive scores of 100 by Terry ensured his win with a magnificent 14-dart display to take the Halton Stadium 501 Individuals title. ●
