Free food in school break

-

● HALTON Brook Community Centre in Runcorn has launched a series of summer clubs to give summer a boost for residents.

Free packed lunches will be available for children who attend Castle View and Holy Spirit primary schools and who receive free school meals.

The scheme will be taking place at noon every weekday from July 31 to September 1 except for bank holidays.

Four Estates, the charity running the initiative, said the pilot project could be rolled out to other areas if it is a hit with residents.

A spokeswoman said the scheme depends on funding and she thanked NHS Well North Project, The Steve Morgan Foundation and Riverside Housing Association for their support.

She said although the initiative is aimed at youngsters who attend Holy Spirit and Castle View schools, parents with children at schools in the wider Halton Brook ward area can also make contact.

Also taking place is ‘The 11’ group, which has started giving out free groceries, meat, tea and coffee.

Anyone who wants to pick up any items should bring their own bag.

The scheme is being run by the Four Estates group and takes place from 11am-1pm every Thursday at Halton Brook Community Centre on Meadway.
