Rebecca makes it a hat trick with her leading panto role...

-

ASTAR will be appearing in this year’s festive pantomime for the third year in a row. Rebecca Lake has been revealed as Sleeping Beauty for the Brindley’s annual Christmas performance.

The Halton Borough Council panto will run from Monday, December 11, to Sunday, January 14.

Two years ago Rebecca was ‘Slave Of The Ring’ in Aladdin and has been an audience favourite ever since. Rebecca was last year’s Miss British Isles, a title which won her a modelling contract.

A judge on last year’s Halton’s Got Talent, she has already packed loads into her short career, having sung with Lulu and Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees and performed with the English National Ballet as a lead dancer.

A talent from an early age, she started her training aged three, at the Elizabeth Hill School Of Dance down the road in St Helens.

At the age of 16, Rebecca was given her first professional role as Cinderella in Bolton Albert Hall’s Christmas pantomime.

While studying musical theatre at Pendleton College, she was offered the chance to travel with the English National Ballet as a lead dancer to perform a production of Swanning Around at the Royal Albert Hall in London and represented Great Britain at the World Expo in Shanghai.

She has gone on to perform in many different pantomimes and shows across the country and graduated with a degree in musical theatre at Blackpool School Of Performing Arts.

She said she was really looking forward to coming to Halton again.

Rebecca said: “I am thrilled to be back near my home town, so friends and family can see me perform.

“There was such a great atmosphere last year and the year before and we all got on so well and I think that really shone through in the performances.

“Sleeping Beauty is such a great panto and Polka Dot has compiled a stellar cast and I can’t wait to get started.”

The pantomime is being presented by Polka Dot Pantomimes.

Cllr Phil Harris, Halton Borough Council’s executive board member for The Brindley, said: “Book early for our pantomime, full of spectacular scenery, dazzling costumes, hilarious jokes, singlalong songs – fun for all the family!”

There is a British sign language performance on Friday, December 29, at 5pm and a relaxed performance on Sunday, January 7, at 1pm. ●

Tickets cost £16 for children, £22 for adults, or £70 for families of two adults and two children.

Groups of 20 or more can watch the performance for £17 while schools can see it for £11 each, with one teacher in 15 going free.
