Scarlett is bouncing for real joy
A TALENTED young trampolinist from Runcorn has returned from a major global competition with a gold medal.
Competing for Great Britain, 11-year-old Scarlett Fletcher finished ahead of a world-class field of 48 in the Double Mini Trampoline – DMT – class in the prestigious Scalabis Cup staged in the Portuguese city of Santarem.
A former pupil of St Berteline’s CE School in Runcorn, Scarlett was participating in a contest with competitors coming from a host of countries including Australia, Canada and the United States of America.
The victory sets up an exciting end of the year for the Halton schoolgirl – for Scarlett has already qualified for the British Championships in both trampoline and DMT which will be held at the ECHO Arena in September. In October, she is set to return to Portugal to represent Team GB in both disciplines at the Loule Cup and she will hopefully qualify for the World Age Games in Bulgaria during November. There is also a date in her busy schedule for the North West Championships, also in October, where she hopes to defend her titles for a fourth successive year.
Scarlett is coached, most successfully, by Andrew Houston, Luke Strong and Dan Greaves, at the City of Liverpool Academy, where they continue to work hard to help her achieve her ambitions in the sport.
