National Vegans day

- Jasmine Owens

A NATIONAL celebration takes place on October 1.

National Older Vegans Day is a chance to appreciate older people within the vegan and vegetarian movement.

On 1 October, people worldwide will organise events for World Vegetarian Day and International Older Persons Day.

What better opportunity to make the day special for older vegans?

Many became vegan at a time when it was much harder to avoid meat and dairy than it is today. We want to show we value their contribution by organising events across the country.

V For Life has been speaking with care homes and community groups who will be hosting events on the day.

We want to make the occasion full of fun and enjoyment for older vegans.

We would love to hear from individuals or groups that are interested in holding an event.

We have plenty of free literature available. Our five-ingredient recipe book Take V is popular, as is our lifestyle magazine Vintage.

Vintage features ideas on how host a successful event for older vegans.

I strongly encourage anyone who is passionate about older people or the vegan movement to get involved.
