Active fun for all at church events

-

MORE than 100 children and their parents have enjoyed four weeks of fun at Widnes Baptist Church.

The Holiday Fun Club at the Deacon Road church involved a host of activities.

These included a fancy dress launch party, dance and sing sessions, and stay and play events.

The youngsters have also been presented with medals and certificates at a special celebration service.

One of the organisers Sarah Symons said: “Lots of groups don’t operate during the summer holidays, leaving many parents under pressure to pay out to entertain their kids.

“To lessen the burden, we as a church, decided to fill August with lots of free activities for ● families.

“My two girls absolutely loved it, and every single person who came along had a great time, from the youngest to the oldest.

“It wasn’t just the kids who made friends, the mums, dads and nans made friends too, whether we were dancing along to the songs, or enjoying some cake after the Stay and Plays.

“It was a great time and seeing the children’s faces when they received their medals from Charlie the monkey puppet was a real highlight. “We never expected so many children to come, we were truly blessed and we must admit that we’re a bit sad our Holiday Fun Club has come to an end. We can’t wait till the October half term now, so watch this space.” ● MEMBERS of the Women’s Institute (WI) blew the competition away at the Widnes & District Horticultural show.

The Widnes Wonders achieved places in all categories which they entered. with the cream of the crop being a first placed pumpkin.

The WI only acquired their allotment on Hanley Close in Ditton earlier this year and spent many hours preparing the soil for planting.
