Tough team in the running

-

TWO employees at a Runcorn metal 3D printing powder producer who raised more than £900 for charity by taking part in an endurance course are nominees for the Team category.

Ciaran Farrell, 22, from Widnes, and Will Dawbarn, 25, from Warrington, work at LPW Technology.

They took on the greulling 12k Tough Mudder event at Malpas earlier in September and both finished the course in under five hours.

The duo decided to brave the tricky rotating barriers, the slippery pyramid and the intriguingly named arctic enema, among other obstacles, to raise money for the two charities closest to their hearts.

These were Men United – Prostate Cancer UK and North West testicular cancer charity Baggy Trousers UK.

Ciaran said: “We were keen to do the course, which features really challenging hurdles all the way through, and then live electric wires delivering 10,000 volts for the closing sprint.

“We knew if we ran Tough Mudder to raise money for the causes closest to our hearts right now we’d have even more motivation to complete it.

“We have friends and colleagues who have fought these conditions, and we wanted to do our bit to support them and help others affected.”

Will added: “We got fit, got wet, raised money and contributed to the fight to beat cancer.

“We’re delighted with the amount raised, and want to thank everyone who has supported us with donations and encouragement.”

Between them, Will and Ciaran have raised £915. There is still time to donate. To do so visit www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/lpw-technology ●
