Neal and Chris team up to secure Tudor Pairs Trophy in super style

-

LAST Thursday in the Runcorn & District Bowling Association saw the finals of the Tudor Pairs Trophy held at War Memorial Bowling Club.

The first semi-final saw homesters George Aspinwall and Maurice Hambleton take on Dave Williams and Mark Furber and it was not long before Williams and Furber showed their class taking a 10-1 lead after just six ends.

George and Maurice failed to take advantage of their green knowledge and it was Dave and Mark who ran out the winners 21-7.

The second semi-final contest saw father and son pairing Peter Hollett Snr and Peter Hollett Jnr take on Chris Price and Neal Ocego.

The Hollett pairing took a double on the first end but that was their race run, as after 11 ends the game was over Chris and Neal ran out the winners 21-2.

The final paired Pavilions ‘A’ team colleagues against each other and the game started with the jack swapping hands.

By the seventh end the score was knotted at 4-4.

However, Mark then upped his game and started leading with some accuracy and they raced into an 11-4 lead by the 11th end.

Chris and Neal had a discussion which resulted in the latter leading – and what a great transformation it worked out to be.

Neal imposed himself onto the game, and with a machinelike rhythm he peppered the jack with his leads. Well assisted by Chris, the pair romped into a 19-11 lead before the jack changed hands.

Dave and Mark could only add three further chalks before Neal and Chris made a double to win 21-14.

League secretary Pat Crowe thanked War Memorial for the use of their facilities, the spectators for their attendance and in particular the two markers Paul Gough and Jim Tomlinson for helping out over the two weeks.

Secretaries and players are thanked for all their help throughout the season. ● Tickets are now available for the annual Presentation Evening which will be held on Friday, November 24. Call Pat Crowe for futher details on 01928-574689. ●
