Pupils create Remembrance Garden to honour the fallen

-

● SCHOOLCHILDREN across Runcorn and Widnes have honoured the nation’s fallen soldiers with a Remembrance Garden bursting with poppies.

Runcorn Shopping City asked primaries to create as many as possible for a flowing river of red in the main square.

The schools involved were: The Brow, Fairfield, Bridgewater Park, Palace Fields, Brookfields, Beechwood, The Grange, St Martin’s Catholic Primary, Chesnut Lodge, St Gerard’s Catholic ● Primary and Hallwood Park.

A Shopping City spokeswoman said: “The schools really got behind this event and we were inundated with over 6,000 poppies from 10 schools to create an outstanding exhibition and tribute to those we lost.

“The display will remain in the main city square until the evening of November 11 when we would welcome people to come down and have a look and purchase a poppy from the British Legion.” ●
