Carpenters Story heading to the stage
THE Carpenters Story comes to The Brindley Theatre in Runcorn later this month.
With backing from Richard Carpenter himself, who called it ‘a very accurate portrayal, I’m very flattered’, the concert-style production celebrates the music of one of pop’s most successful duos Richard and Karen Carpenter.
Created in 1986 by Phil Aldridge, The Carpenters Story was one of the UK’s first tribute shows of its kind.
More than three decades later the show has stood the test of time, having entertained sell-out audiences throughout Europe and the rest of the world.
A Brindley spokesman said: “Acclaimed international star Claire Furley remains unsurpassed in her uncanny representation of Karen Carpenter.
“Her stunning vocal harmonies, combined with state of the art video projection and lavish musical arrangements, will take you on an incredible journey through the uniqueness that truly was The Carpenters, featuring all the timeless classics, including Superstar, Close To You, We’ve Only Just Begun, Yesterday Once More, Top Of The World, Please Mr Postman, Rainy Days And Mondays and many more.”
