Cricketers triumph in a thriller

ON Friday evening in the Widnes & District Darts League, the Mill Brow SC RTB League continued.

In Division Two, the Main Top at home to Hough Green SC took the first game via Tony Hanson.

Keith Glover then levelled for Hough Green, before a win from Paul Woods took them ahead.

The Main Top then levelled via their opening pair, Callum Taylor & Sharon Unsworth.

Hough Green started a rally claiming three in a row through Dave McIntosh & P Lawton, Barry Sefton & Russ Hardman and Barry Sefton securing their match success.

Sharon Unsworth won the penultimat­e game for Main Top, whilst Hough Green’s Russ Hardman took the final game wrapping up a 6-3 win.

The Majors at home to Cricketers Arms conceded the first game to the visitors’ Ian Connor, but the hosts soon levelled through Darren Attwood.

They then went on to take the lead through Nicky Duff.

In the pairs the Cricketers hit back to level via Ian Connor & Paul Mason. The clash remained all-square with further wins apiece for the Majors’ Andy Grice & Darren Attwood and the Cricketers’ Peter Mason & Tony Ainsworth.

Back in the singles, Luke Carey nudged the Majors back in front to put them on the brink of victory.

However, it was not to be their night as firstly Brian Dwyer levelled for the Cricketers Arms and then teammate Tony Ainsworth stepped up to take the spoils 5-4 for the visitors.

The Mersey Hotel at home to the Corpy Club took the first game via Paul Cotty.

Dave Cowan then levelled for the Corpy, followed by Dave Pickles taking them ahead.

The Mersey’s opening pair, Paul Cotty & Dave Cotty then levelled the score.

However that was as good as it got for the Mersey as the Corpy stormed ahead securing the remaining five games and the match as Dave Pickles & Dave Cowan, Jeff Thompson & Mike Ruane, Jeff Thompson, Alan Moran and Alan Pennington were all victorious on the oche. ● Reports from Division One on page 50.
