BACKERS of Sci-Tech Daresbury’s so-called Project Violet expansion have welcomed Halton Council’s decision to approve the scheme.

Neal Biddle, Langtree group development director and SciTech Daresbury joint venture company board member, said the three offices will address a ‘shortfall’ of space in the region and support the science and business incubator campus’s growth.

Two of the buildings will provide 12,000 square feet each and one building will have 18,000 sq ft.

The buildings will be three storeys high and situated at the science park entrance on Innovation Way.

A Langtree spokeswoman said major landscaping improvements will take place around the site.

She said the scheme is the latest phase of development at the award-winning site which has boomed in the last two years, with Project Violet following the opening of Techspace One and Two worth £20m in 2017.

Building work on Project Violet is due to start later this year in time to be ready for occupation 12 months later.

Mr Biddle said: “This excellent news.

“Project Violet will deliver much needed grade A office space in the region and under- is ● lines our commitment to building on Sci-Tech Daresbury’s reputation as a place where ambitious businesses can achieve success.

“Last year another 30 businesses relocated to the campus and with increasing demand on space, it is critical that we continue to invest in the campus’s infrastructure to help support the economic health of the North West’s economy and that of UK plc to better compete in global markets.

“Our project partners share this vision and we believe these physical developments will help address a shortfall of space in the region and support the expansion of the wide range of businesses based on technology and innovation already thriving at Sci-Tech Daresbury.”

Sci-Tech Daresbury is a private-public joint-venture partnership between developer Langtree, the Science And Technology Facilities Council (STFC) and Halton Borough Council.
