Politicians on patrol with stabbed PCSO
AN MP and Cheshire’s police and crime commissioner (PCC) have headed out on patrol in Runcorn including the neighbourhood where a community support officer (PCSO) was subject to a shocking knife attack last year.
Mike Amesbury, MP for Weaver Vale, and David Keane, PCC, were joined by PCSO Duncan Brown himself in Palacefields where they visited an underpass which has suffered anti-social behaviour perpetrated by youths.
Mr Amesbury said he is now writing to Halton Council and a housing association to ask for extra lighting and camera coverage. After the patrol they popped into a residential home and shared a brew with retirees.
The Labour MP said: “It was good to get out on the patch and see some of the issues our officer are dealing with day to day.
“I’ve met Duncan before and it’s clear he knows a great deal about the area, having forged links with the community over a period of time and helping to form that vital bridge between locals and the police.”
Mr Keane, also Labour, said: “It was great to have Mike Amesbury MP out with us in Runcorn.
“We enjoyed being out on patrol with one of our PCSOs, looking at some difficult issues and problem solving as we walked. It was also great to meet a number of local residents, who were only too happy to discuss local issues with us too. Mike’s visit was also appreciated by those at Runcorn Police Station who were really pleased to see his involvement and interest.” ●
