Foodbank is handed £500 for renovation

-

WIDNES Foodbank has been boosted with a donation towards the renovation of its centre.

The charity received £500 after gaining the most votes as part of Taylor Wimpey North West’s Built For The Community campaign.

Widnes Foodbank provides nutritionally balanced emergency food to support residents.

It is part of a nationwide network working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.

Widnes Foodbank treasurer Shelia Smith said: “We are over the moon to receive such a generous donation from the homebuilder.

“The money will be put to great use by helping us to redecorate our Crossing Point foodbank centre on Lugsdale Road.

“The support we have received will make a significant difference to the work that we do, so I would like to take this opportunity to thank Taylor Wimpey on behalf of everyone from Widnes Foodbank.”

As part of the initiative a further two causes, Rainbow House and St Gabriel’s Lunch Club, in Huyton, were also given £500.

Taylor Wimpey North West head of sales Stuart Craig said: “Widnes Foodbank provides an invaluable service to the people that it supports and we are only too pleased to be able to help however we can.

“We are committed to not only creating longstanding communities within our developments, but also to supporting the wider area that we build in to ensure the local organisations and charities can continue to thrive.

“It’s great that this campaign has helped to shine a spotlight on the positive work done by charities and groups in the area.” ●
