Brow about that as ‘B’ team strike back to lift the Jack Wilcox Cup

ON Monday night in the Widnes & District Darts League, the Jack Wilcox Cup three-a-side competitio­n, sponsored by and played at the Wellington Inn took place.

In the first round, the Millfield ‘B’ took on the Hammer & Pincers ‘A’. The Millfield’s Chris Hall, Ronnie Greylish and Dave Jones won all three games and the match.

The Millfield ‘C’ faced the Mill Brow SC ‘B’. Ian Wall took the first game for the Millfield. Dave Powell then levelled, whilst a further win from Paul Linger gave the Mill Brow SC ‘B’ the match.

Halton Stadium ‘B’ were up against Halton Stadium ‘C’.

The ‘C’ team’s Neil Ward took the first game. This was soon levelled by the ‘B’ outfit’s Joe Kelly. John Kilkenny then took the final game and the match for Halton Stadium ‘B’.

Widnes Bowling Club ‘B’ locked horns with the Wellington ‘A’.

Dave Pickles took the first game for the Bowler. Ste Whitfield then levelled for the Wellington. A further win from Karl Whitfield gave the Wellington ‘A’ the match. ●

Simms Cross Institute ‘A’ faced Simms Cross Institute ‘B’. The ‘B’ string claimed all three games and the match through Paul Batty, Andy Abbott and Glyn Owen.

The Goldmine ‘A’ took on the Millfield ‘A’. The Millfield’s Brian Dutton, Alan Sutton and Ray Dutton won all three games and the match.

The Wellington ‘B’ were up against the Goldmine ‘B’. Terry Roach, Mike Callaghan and Shane Littler secured all three games and the match for the Goldmine ‘B’.

The Mill Brow SC ‘C’ played the Goldmine ‘C’. Carl Hackney, Tony Roach and Chris Bright were all successful winning the match for the Mill Brow SC ‘C’.

In the first quarter-final, the Mill Brow SC ‘B’ took on Halton Stadium ‘B’.

The Stadium took all three games and the match through, Eddie Dootson, John Kilkenny (18 darts) and Joe Kelly.

In the second quarter-final, the Goldmine ‘B’ faced the Mill Brow SC ‘C’. The Goldmine took the first two games via Terry Roach and Mike Callaghan. The Brow won the final game but it was just a consolatio­n as the Goldmine took the match.

In the third quarter-final, the Millfield ‘A’ faced the Wellington ‘A’. The Millfield’s Brian Dutton took the first game.

This was soon levelled by the Wellington’s Karl Whitfield.

Mike Howard (16 darts) then took the final game and the match for the Millfield ‘A’.

In the final quarter-final, the Mill Brow SC ‘B’ were up against Simms Cross Institute ‘B’. Jack Dunn took the first game for the Brow before Glyn Owen levelled for the Stute.

Dave Powell then took the final game and the match for the Mill Brow SC ‘B’.

In the first semi-final, the Mill Brow SC ‘B’ took on the Goldmine ‘B’.

The Brow’s Dave Powell (180) and Paul Linger took the first two games whilst Sean Bell (180) won the final game for the Goldmine. However, the Mill Brow SC ‘B’ took the match.

In the second semi-final, the Millfield ‘A’ faced Halton Stadium ‘B’.

Brian Dutton claimed the first game for the Millfield ‘A’. Joe Kelly (17 darts) then levelled for the Stadium ‘B’. Mike Howard then secured the final game and the match for the Millfield ‘A’.

In the final, the Mill Brow SC ‘B’ took on the Millfield ‘A’.

The Brow conceded the first game to the Millfield’s Brian Dutton.

Dave Powell then levelled for the Brow and a further win from teammate Jack Dunn secured the silverware for the Mill Brow SC ‘B’.
