Octet’s success on the oche secures spots in the semi-finals of Pairs
ON Friday night in the Widnes & District Darts League, the Jason Bright President Pairs – sponsored by Chris & Linda Bright – were played at the Mill Brow SC.
In the pre-lims, Brian Spruce & Jack Dunn, Paul Woods & Dwayne Lawton, Ian Wall & Alan Sutton, Owen Batty & Ian Connor, James Holden & Barry Highfield, Ronnie Greylish & Dave Sutton, Eric Peel & Neil Platt, Andy Davies & Dave Jones, Sean Bell & Terry Roach, Jamie Donegan & Brian Dutton (17 darts) and Dave Powell & Paul Linger (11 darts) all won in two straight legs.
The remaining four pairs who had to play an extra leg were Mick Cullen & John Leacy, Dave Pickles & Dave Cowan, Kenny Murphy & Barry Stanners and Brian Abbott & Tony Green (11 darts).
In the first round, Brian Abbott & Tony Green, Karl Whitfield & Ste Whitfield, Dave Powell & Paul Linger, Glyn Owen & Ged McPartland (16 darts), Sean Bell & Terry Roach, Joe Batty & Scott Grady (12 & 17) darts, Kenny Murphy & Barry Stanners, Owen Batty & Ian Connor, Alex McGill & Alan Clark, Phil Corless & Ray O’Connor and Tommy Robertson & Tex Bowles all took the wins in two straight legs.
Meantime, Mick Cullen & John Leacy, Brian Spruce & Jack Dunn, Jeff Thompson & D Jackson and Carl Bryan & Ian Sharples all won by two games to one.
The remaining pair – Jamie Donegan & Brian Dutton – went through by default as their opponents pulled out.
In round two, Tex Bowles & Tommy Robertson, Sean Bell & Terry Roach, Brian Abbott & Tony Green, Karl Whitfield & Ste Whitfield and Phil Corless & Ray O’Connor all went through in two straight legs. Owen Batty & Ian Connor, Dave Powell & Paul Linger and Jamie Donegan & Brian Dutton all won by two games to one.
In the quarter-final encounters, Karl Whitfield & Ste Whitfield and Sean Bell & Terry Roach all won in two straight legs.
Meantime, Dave Powell & Paul Linger (10 darts) and Jamie Donegan & Brian Dutton all won by two games to one to book their places in the competition’s semi-finals. ●
