Car crooks caught on CCTV camera

-

● CCTV captured the moment a gang of brazen thieves rummaged through someone else’s car in Runcorn.

Footage captured by the vehicle’s owner Ewa Marchewa showed the group searching the two front seat areas and the boot.

She said the gang pilfered a measly pound coin and jacket and she only noticed they had searched the car because they left the boot open. The incident happened at about 4.20am on Sunday on Liskeard Close in Brookvale and was one of several that night in the neighbourhood. Runcorn police tweeted to say there had been several ‘break-ins’ overnight.

As one thief goes to the front passenger door, another runs to the driver door while another paces about before checking the boot.

A fourth member of the group in light-coloured jogging bottoms heads to the back of the car park before skirting round the edges, perhaps as a lookout.

For the most part dressed in black clothes with North Face logos visible and their faces covered.

One face is not covered and is visible to the camera in several shots.

The jacket is described as grey, unbranded and a jacket or hoodie. Police have been informed.

Ewa said: “It was on Liskeard Close in Brookvale. “They only took a jacket and a pound from me, leaving everything else. The car was left unlocked by accident the night before because me and my children were bringing shopping in. I thought I locked it.”
