Registrars secure high accolades

-

HALTON Borough Council registration service has received high praise from a watchdog.

The annual assessment by the General Register Office For England And Wales, graded Halton’s registration service a high performing district against key performance targets and national standards.

The time related indicators for registering births, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships have exceeded the set target.

Last year three team members passed the registrar general’s Nationally Accredited Programme For Registration Officers (NAP).

In order to maintain the service performance, three more registrars, including a new apprentice, will be studying for two years to achieve the qualification demonstrating the commitment to raising service standards.

Executive board member for environmental services, Cllr Stef Nelson, was very pleased with the outcome.

He said: “Halton has always been at the forefront of the national regis- tration service and this latest inspection shows that we have not only maintained our standards, we are set to improving them even further.

“In some cases the service was above the statutory 95% target rate by 3%, ensuring the registrars are amongst the best in the country”. ●

A council spokesman said: “The customer satisfaction survey for marriages is 100% at the splendid town hall, set in a fabulous garden within extensive grounds and free parking, providing the ideal setting for couples from a wide area looking for a special venue.”
