Fine team effort key to victory

Hindley U10 22 HFH U10 Reds 36 THE Reds produced a great team performanc­e against a very strong Hindley side to take the spoils.

Zak Bennett was first player to grab a fourpointe­r as he drifted through the middle of the Hindley defence with a barnstormi­ng run to score.

George Attwood converted to make it 6-0.

Next up was Ben Sibson when he picked up the loose ball and raced 50 metres to score, converting his own excellent try to improve the advantage to 12-0.

Hindley replied before Bennett ghosted through the defence scoring out wide for Jack Mather to tack on the extras to make it 18-6 at half-time.

Sibson raced over for his second try early in the second half with Keigan McPake converting.

Hindley replied with a quickfire double to make it 24-16.

However, Mather responded with a try scooting over from dummy-half to make it 28-16.

Hornets finished their scoring with a fantastic try from Bennett completing his hat-trick before Hindley had the final word with a last minute consolatio­n try.

Man-of-the-match honours went to Ben Sibson who also put a massive defensive effort.

Top tackler was Zak Bennett whilst the coaches’ award went to Jack Mather for his all-round team performanc­e.

Special mentions must go to Charlie Roberts and Oliver Hunt for their good defensive work achieving double figures on the tackle count.

In addition, Daniel Houghton and Jude Phillips deserve recognitio­n for setting the platform for the win with their barnstormi­ng runs upfield.

Also Charlie Fallon for dictating the play from hooker and George Attwood for putting Hindley under pressure with his excellent kicking game throughout the entertaini­ng encounter.
