Away the ladies as super Rock Park ‘B’ secure success at Grapes ‘B’

IN the Runcorn & District Bowling Associatio­n’s Section One, pacesetter­s Norley had a difficult game at home against Castle S&SC but managed to secure a 133-126 victory.

With both teams fielding strong line-ups, the best winners for Castle were John Gurney (21-6) and Andy Hamman (21-3) with Kevin Duncalf (21-8) replying to help Norley maintain their unbeaten record.

Another fine away display ensured Pavilions ‘A’ stay unbeaten. This time, they scored a 146-129 win at Hazel Pear. Alan Briscoe shone with a 21-9 success for the winners.

Halton RBL ‘A’ were the only team to post a full house, their maximum being recorded against Kingswood. Jim Tomlinson posted a 21-10 win to lead the way.

Norton ‘A’ managed to win away at Pavilions ‘B’ with John Hughes, Phil Hughes and Jeff Hughes making the difference on the night, all winning to single figures.

Kingswood ‘A’ made home green advantage count against Helsby ‘C’ winning 153-113 while Helsby ‘A’ won 165-103 at home against Grapes ‘A’ with Dave Evans and Terry Lyons both winning 21-8.

In Section Two, another unbeaten team this season, Kingsley ‘A’, managed to see off Manley at home 161-123. Derek Bell performed best with a 21-9 win.

Subscripti­on beat Willow Brook at home, with Allan Guest winning 21-4.

War Memorial were just beaten at home 127-124 by Egerton ‘B’ with both teams having four winners on the night. The best win for the War Memorial was recorded by Mike Couzens (21-8) with Pat Cooney replying (21-7).

Norton ‘B’ had a solid performanc­e, with three single figure winners in their 152-105 triumph at home against Grapes ‘C’, who posted three winners themselves.

In Section Three, Helsby ‘D’ won 146-131 against Goshawk ‘B’, with Mark Clements impressing with a 21-8 triumph. The best reply for the Goshawk team was Mike Shields’s 21-13 success.

The closest game with the highest score happened in Frodsham with the Cons Club edging a classic 143-142 against Pavilions ‘D’. Mal Cleworth’s 21-8 success helped secure the narrowest of wins.

The away performanc­e of the week goes to Rock Park ‘B’, with the ladies winning 152-106 at Grapes ‘B’. Lynn Light, Ann Whitby and Marie Scott all won to single figures.

Pavilions ‘C’ beat Helsby ‘B’ 143-109 with Eunice Watson and Doreen Goodwin both winning to singles figures, whilst Heather Ross earned a fine 21-4 win for Helsby.
