Family all set for global tour

ARUNCORN family has revealed it is ditching the routine and embarking on a world trip for at least six months.

The Sayles from Norton are even aiming to sustain a normal of life of sorts, keeping a hand in the running of their business remotely and ‘world schooling’ their two children as they travel amidst the exotic Far east and maybe beyond.

Mum of the family Vicky Sayle and husband Karl coined the idea having already home-schooled their daughter and son Lydia and George for a year after the boy had a ‘couple of rough years’.

Soon after inspiration struck, the couple did some brief research on how feasible it would be then plumped to go for it.

The trip will be funded in part by selling their worldly possessions including their car, but the dynamic husband and wife duo’s web savvy skills have now paved the way for free accommodation for the first three weeks after offers came in from hotels keen to make the most of the family’s unique travelog.

They are also working to save up as much as they can.

Excitement is now building for the Sayles as they await their departure date on August 30 to head to their first destination, Thailand, with Cambodia, Vietnam and Australia also on their broader itinerary.

Vicky said: “We’ve had hotels come to approach us now we’ve started to gain a bit more traction. ●

“We’ve got hotels asking us to do web cameras, social media and images for their hotels.

“So far it’s been really good, we’re not paying for anything other than the flights.”

She added: “We’d like to try and get back before Christmas if we can.

“We haven’t got a plan to stop, we own a business in Runcorn on Astmoor Industrial Estate.

“We’ve been there 18 months and have a good team to leave behind and look after it.

“It’s virtual assistant work doing administrative and secretarial work all over the UK.

“Because it’s remote, we can do it wherever we are.

“We have an office dealing with it but wherever I am I can work from my laptop.

“From Australia we would love to do Japan and China and from there to American.”

Discussing George’s role in inspiring the adventure, Vicky said; “My son is eight, he’s half the reason why we’ve decided to do it.

“He’s had a rough couple of years with school and we’ve actually found out he’s autistic.

“They didn’t pick up on it, it’s something we’ve picked up on with work.

“He struggles with interacting and sitting in classrooms loads of kids, it drives him up the wall, so he’s been homeschooled for 12 months.

“My daughter is about to turn 12 on August 31, the day after we fly.

“She would have been going to high school but she’s home ed’, she loves it. World schooling is an amazing opportunity.

“It’s landed in our laps at the right time.

“This is something that’s very exciting and scary at the same time.”

She added: “The last few years have been really tough and Lydia dealt with a lot of bullying. “We’ve got to the point, we said there’s got to be more to life than this.”
