Runcorn & Widnes Weekly News - - In Business -

Oxton V 3 Runcorn III 4 RIGHT from the start of this game Runcorn were in control but struggled to convert one of their many chances.

The breakthrough came late in the first half with Richard Lovsin netting his first goal of the season.

The second half started well for Runcorn and they were soon two goals up from a Graham Skelland penalty corner.

Unfortunately for Runcorn, a couple of mistakes in the midfield led to two quick goals for Oxton drawing them level.

Parity did not last long as Mark Perry scored his first goal for Runcorn followed soon after by a second for Lovsin.

With time running out in the encounter, Oxton pushed hard and managed to claim their third goal with less than a minute left on the clock. However, Runcorn saw the remaining time out to claim the points.

There were some great performances from youngsters Kieran Thompson and Richard Bignall which made this a very satisfying win for Runcorn.
