Guide dog delights shoppers
GREEN Oaks Shopping Centre supported National Guide Dog Week by welcoming ‘Widnes’s best loved guide dog, Monty’ on Saturday, October 6.
Monty was at the centre with his owners Linda and Matthew Mair, who run the Guide Dog charity, and were asking visitors to help raise much needed funds.
Donations go directly into the charity to help make a difference to the services they provide.
Across Merseyside and Cheshire, Guide Dogs are supporting just over 300 working guide dog partnerships.
Each dog costs £5 per day to support, including all training, vet and food costs.
This year’s Guide Dog Week marked the 87th anniversary of the first working guide dog which was trained in Wallasey.
Matthew and Linda said: “It’s a great way for us to showcase the work we do within the community. Monty always has a great time too, he is like a local celebrity.”
