Students selected to name development

-

B● LOOR Homes enlisted the help of students to name its new development in Sandymoor. The national housebuilder approached Sandymoor School and challenged students to think of a fitting name for its development off Wharford Lane.

More than 100 pupils from years 10 and 11 took part in the competition and Bloor Homes has now announced the winner.

The chosen name for the new development is Beamish Place, put forward by Year 11 pupil Callum Slack, who was inspired by Lewis Carroll’s poem Jabberwocky.

Callum, 15, and runner-up Abbey Higgins, 16, who suggested Cottontail Views, both received a certificate from Bloor Homes and a WH Smith gift voucher.

Both entries were linked to the famous author Lewis Carroll, who was born in the nearby village of Daresbury.

Sarah Ransom, marketing manager for Bloor North West, said: “I’d like to thank all the students from Sandymoor School who clearly did their research and came up with some fantastic ideas.

“It wasn’t an easy choice picking a winner, but we felt Beamish Place stood out because of its cheerful connotations and its local connection through Lewis Carroll.

“We hope that Callum will feel a great deal of pride when he sees his winning suggestion on our signage at the development and that he enjoys spending his voucher.”

Judith Humphries, business manager and facilities manager at Sandymoor School, said: “This was a lovely gesture from Bloor Homes and a great chance for our students to showcase their creativity and imagination.

“We’re very proud of Callum, Abbey and everyone who took part in the competition and we can’t wait to see Callum’s winning entry go up on the signs.”

Beamish Place will feature a range of two, three and four-bedroom homes.

The showhomes and sales centre will open in summer 2019 and prospective buyers can register their interest by visiting bloorhomes.com
