Hornets keep out Moorfield

HFH U9 48 Moorfield U9 0 IN the return fixture of the local derby it was the Hornets who came out on top in a tough encounter at Wilmere Lane.

In attack all the Hornets ran well with great work down the middle of the field from George Sanderson, Ollie Jenkins and Matthew Brown making the hard yards.

The tries came out wide from Joe Bebbington, Ellis Lloyd, Kobe MacKinnon, a brace for Cian Winstanley, a hat-trick for Joe Heany and James Prescott who topped the try count with four.

In defence, every player really contribute­d to prevent a good Moorfield side from crossing the whitewash with Matthew Sinclair, Matthew Brown and Joe Heany keeping the centre of the park locked down throughout the clash.

However, it was Ellis Lloyd who was awarded with the top tackler honour, while for his all-round excellent display, it was Kobe Mackinnon who claimed the man-of-the-match accolade. In a highlyente­rtaining encounter the Greens scored six tries.

Isaac Irwin and Jack Campbell claimed doubles and George McKeown and Frankie Doyle each grabbed singles.

For the Greens, Isaac Irwin took the man-ofthe-match award with teammate Oliver Mangan earning the coaches’ accolade.

Evan Milne and Nathan Percival could not be separated as top tacklers.

The Reds scored tries from their man-of-thematch Adam Cooke, Jack Mather, Jacob Fitzsimons, Tom Kneale and their top tackler, Tyler Hollins.
