● ARMISTICE Day memo­rial events in Hal­ton are to take place as fol­lows: ● IN Widnes, the civic pro­ces­sion will as­sem­ble at 10.05am on Lockett Road, to set off promptly at 10.35am for a 10.45 ar­rival at the War Memo­rial in Vic­to­ria Park, where the ser­vice will take place.

Mike McNi­cholas, of the Ball O’Dit­ton branch of the Royal Bri­tish Le­gion, said the ser­vice will be con­ducted by Church Of Eng­land, Methodist and Catholic min­is­ters and at­tended by a Lord Lieu­tenant’s rep­re­sen­ta­tive.

He said the pa­rade will in­clude a horse, dog and doves to re­mem­ber the an­i­mals that died dur­ing the con­flict. ● FOR Run­corn, the pa­rade is ex­pected to as­sem­ble at 2.30pm on Green­way Road, to de­part at 2.45pm to ar­rive at the Ceno­taph for the Run­corn ser­vice at 3pm.

The Royal Bri­tish Le­gion has ap­pealed to the gen­eral pub­lic and or­gan­i­sa­tions to ob­serve a two-min­utes si­lence at 11am on Novem­ber 11.

In ad­di­tion, the two lawns ei­ther side of the Ceno­taph in Run­corn are to be reded­i­cated as gar­dens of re­mem­brance, at 2pm, on Mon­day, Novem­ber 5, fea­tur­ing a short ser­vice.

Vis­i­tors are wel­come to place Bri­tish Le­gion Re­mem­brance crosses. ● BE­FORE the main pub­lic events, vet­er­ans from the Widnes and Ball O’Dit­ton RBL branches, as well as the Widnes Royal Ar­tillery As­so­ci­a­tion, will be meet­ing with Derek Twigg MP, Cllr Rob Pol­hill, the Hal­ton Bor­ough Coun­cil leader, and Kingsway coun­cil­lor An­drea Wall at Widnes Ceme­tery Cross Of Sac­ri­fice at 9am on Re­mem­brance Sun­day to re­mem­ber those buried who served.

Wreaths will be laid and an air cadet will play The Last Post and Reveille.

They will then join the main pa­rade on Lockett Road. ●
