Cops have identity of man dead in pond
DETECTIVES have confirmed the identity of a dead body found in Dutton to be that of a 44-year-old Runcorn man.
A Cheshire police spokeswoman said the deceased was discovered at 11.27am on Saturday, November 3, in a pond on Higher Lane.
An appeal had been issued over the identity of the adult white male.
The force confirmed on Monday afternoon that the man had been identified.
Police have said the death is not believed to be suspicious.
The coroner’s office has been informed.
Higher Lane has a junction with ● the A533 Northwich Road in Dutton just south of Runcorn, and with Grimsditch Lane and Newton Lane near Daresbury.
Detective Inspector Paul Hughes, of Cheshire Constabulary’s Major Investigation Team, said: “Following extensive enquiries I can now confirm the body of a man found in a pond in Northwich has now been identified.
“His family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers during this difficult time.
“I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank the public and the media for their help.”
