Cops have iden­tity of man dead in pond

DE­TEC­TIVES have con­firmed the iden­tity of a dead body found in Dut­ton to be that of a 44-year-old Run­corn man.

A Cheshire po­lice spokes­woman said the de­ceased was dis­cov­ered at 11.27am on Satur­day, Novem­ber 3, in a pond on Higher Lane.

An ap­peal had been is­sued over the iden­tity of the adult white male.

The force con­firmed on Mon­day af­ter­noon that the man had been iden­ti­fied.

Po­lice have said the death is not be­lieved to be sus­pi­cious.

The coro­ner’s of­fice has been in­formed.

Higher Lane has a junc­tion with ● the A533 North­wich Road in Dut­ton just south of Run­corn, and with Grims­ditch Lane and New­ton Lane near Dares­bury.

De­tec­tive In­spec­tor Paul Hughes, of Cheshire Con­stab­u­lary’s Ma­jor In­ves­ti­ga­tion Team, said: “Fol­low­ing ex­ten­sive en­quiries I can now con­firm the body of a man found in a pond in North­wich has now been iden­ti­fied.

“His fam­ily have been in­formed and are be­ing sup­ported by spe­cial­ist of­fi­cers dur­ing this dif­fi­cult time.

“I’d also like to take this op­por­tu­nity to thank the pub­lic and the me­dia for their help.”
